London theater vet and reality star MiG Ayesa will join the Broadway company of Burn the Floor on January 5 as the show’s male vocalist for the final week of performances, replacing Ricky Rojas. The ballroom dance show will close at the Longacre Theatre on January 10 before embarking on a 30-city national tour.
Ayesa placed third in the reality TV competition Rock Star: INXS. The Philippines-born singer has had leading roles in London productions of We Will Rock You, Rent, Thriller and Buddy. In Australia and on tour he played leading roles in Fame, Grease, Rent, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and West Side Story. His film credits include Queen of the Damned.
As previously announced, Dancing with the Stars champ Derek Hough will join Burn the Floor on January 8 for the final four Broadway performances, partnering with Kym Johnson. The production is created, directed and choreographed by Jason Gilkison.
